We are proud to recognise Tommy Swarbrigg as a recipient of our Gift of Hearing programme, an initiative dedicated to helping individuals reconnect with the world around them through life changing hearing care.
Tommy spent decades immersed in music, performing and working long hours in studios surrounded by high volumes of sound. Like many, he did not realise the long-term impact this would have on his hearing. Over time, he began to experience significant hearing loss, leaving him struggling in conversations, particularly in busy or social environments.
This gradual loss began to affect the moments that mattered most. Tommy found it increasingly difficult to follow discussions, often straining to hear or asking others to repeat themselves. The thought of losing his hearing entirely was deeply concerning, especially when it came to missing out on time with his family and hearing the voices of his grandchildren.
Through the Gift of Hearing programme, Tommy was provided with advanced hearing aids and personalised care from expert audiologists. The impact was immediate and profound. Everyday interactions became clearer, conversations more natural, and the simple joy of hearing returned. He described the experience as the world opening up again, restoring confidence and connection in his daily life.
Since launching in 2018, the Gift of Hearing programme has supported individuals across Ireland with expert hearing care and advanced technology, helping people of all ages reconnect with family, friends, and the sounds they cherish most.
Tommy’s story is a meaningful reminder that hearing loss can develop gradually, often going unnoticed until it begins to impact everyday life. Taking action early and seeking professional support can make a lasting difference.
If you or someone close to you has noticed changes in hearing, now is the time to act. A simple step today can help you stay connected to the conversations and moments that truly matter.
