It is important to remember that hearing loss often happens gradually, and it might be difficult for you to notice changes in your hearing. The examples provided above are signs of hearing loss, and if you experience one or more of them, we recommend getting your hearing tested.

Why should you consider taking a hearing test?
If you experience symptoms of hearing loss, or if a friend or loved one recognises that you have signs of hearing loss, we advise getting your hearing tested as soon as possible. Even in cases of mild hearing loss, it is good to be proactive and seek treatment as early as possible. Hearing loss can worsen if it is left untreated. After all, your sense of hearing gives you the ability to connect with the world around you.

Caroline Hogan

Hearing Aid Audiologist

“I simply love what I do and have never once regretted my decision to train as an audiologist.”

My name is Caroline, and audiology is in my DNA. I have always had a keen interest in healthcare, as my sister and my mother are nurses.
I love to help people to improve their quality of life and helping people to hear better is extremely rewarding.

I have been working with Hidden Hearing for many years now. We provide a professional, expert service, treating patients with dignity and respect. We earn our patients trust and enjoy lifelong relationships, providing free aftercare services for hearing aid users. I simply love what I do every day. There is such a great pleasure in helping people to hear better. I have been an audiologist for 11 years and have never once regretted my decision to train as an audiologist.

I treat patients for mild, moderate, and profound hearing loss. I also specialise in communication disorders and aural rehabilitation and have a deep understanding of the emotional, psychological, physical, and cognitive issues associated with hearing loss. I hold a Higher Education Diploma in Hearing Aid Audiology (HDip HAA) and as a practising audiologist, I keep up to date with the latest practices, research and innovations.

It's exciting to witness the instant effect hearing aids can make and know that you played a part in this fantastic moment. I am saddened when a patient with hearing loss defers treatment. I appreciate that it takes time for patients to come to terms with their diagnosis, and hearing loss is stigmatised. As an audiologist, I am all too aware of the impact of hearing loss on a patient’s social, psychological and mental wellbeing; however, the patient will ultimately decide what is best for them. Often, patients take time to process their diagnosis, make an informed decision and return for treatment. It thrills me to know they are taking control of their hearing health.

A gentleman had lost his hearing in his right ear in childhood, and he is now in his 60s. He started to wear an aid in his left ear in his 40s. He was managing but was only hearing on his left side. When he came in for a consultation, I suggested he try our BCROS system. He took my advice and in his own words said, “It has completely changed my life, I can hear my wife and my children and grandchildren from both sides now”. He is so happy and can’t believe how much better his quality of life is. He said, “I am one happy man, thank you Caroline for everything,” and I will always remember that.

I advise everyone to test and benchmark their hearing ability annually to easily detect decline and make informed decisions for the treatment of hearing loss as necessary. You have nothing to lose.

Hearing Aid Audiologist

“Knowledge is power and once a person is aware of the step-by-step process to hearing health, there’s every chance of success.”

My name is David, and I've always been interested in audio and technology. Throughout my career, here at Hidden Hearing, I have had the opportunity to help people in making the correct choices for their needs. Audiology seemed to have the balance I was seeking to help people hear better and I have the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art hearing aid technology.

Our industry is constantly evolving. We are learning more about the impact of hearing loss on the individual and the correlation between hearing loss and other medical conditions. Hearing diagnostics and hearing aid technologies continuously improve, delivering better style and comfort and an enhanced sound experience. It's exciting to be working at the cutting-edge of hearing health and know we are providing life-changing hearing healthcare at Hidden Hearing.

I treat patients for mild, moderate, and profound hearing loss. Technological innovations excite me, and I have extensive knowledge of conventional and digital hearing aids, as well as emerging technology. I hold a Higher Education Diploma in Hearing Aid Audiology (h.Dip HAA) from Queen Margaret University (QMU), UK. As a practising audiologist, I keep up to date with the latest practices, research, and innovations by participating in Continued Professional Development courses and hope to obtain further training in Paediatrics.

I strongly recommend people take regular hearing tests, even if they think their hearing is fine. Hearing loss often goes undetected, and people with hearing decline subconsciously read lips and facial expressions to aid understanding. If hearing loss is caught early, treatment can prevent or slow further deterioration, and the sufferer can avoid the frustration and anguish caused by the inability to hear. Knowledge is power and once a person is aware of the step-by-step process to hearing health, there's every chance of success.
