My name is Gavin Johnson. I chose to become an audiologist because I am naturally fascinated by Hearing and the phenomenon of sound, and I wanted to pursue a career that satisfies my curiosity and supports my passion.

I wanted to pursue a career in medicine, and Audiology sounded interesting. On completion of my studies, I started my career with Hidden Hearing, and I can honestly say that it is the job of my dreams. It's challenging and rewarding in equal measure, and I get to make a positive difference, improving people's Hearing and quality of life.

We provide a professional, expert service, treating patients with dignity and respect. We earn our patients trust and enjoy lifelong relationships, providing free aftercare services for hearing aid users.

Our industry is constantly evolving. We are learning more about the impact of hearing loss on the individual and the correlation between hearing loss and other medical conditions.

Hearing diagnostics and hearing aid technologies continuously improve, delivering better style and comfort and an enhanced sound experience. It's exciting to be working at the cutting-edge of hearing health. I get great satisfaction seeing the transformation in my patients following their hearing aid fitting. My name is Ger Dowling, and I am an audiologist with Hidden Hearing. I have been part of the Hidden Hearing team for over eight years, helping people in the local community hear better and feel more confident in everyday conversations.

My interest in audiology is deeply personal. Having grown up with close family members, including my mother and grandmother, experiencing hearing loss, I saw first hand the challenges it can bring. It made me want to do something where I could help people stay connected to the people and moments that matter most.

What I find most rewarding is seeing that change in someone, whether it is getting back to social occasions or simply enjoying an easier conversation with family. Even small improvements can make a real difference to someone’s confidence and quality of life.

What is really encouraging today is how adaptable hearing solutions have become. We are able to match technology much more closely to each person’s lifestyle, whether that is staying active, enjoying social settings, or simply feeling more at ease day to day. Of course, even the best technology can only take you so far. It is the ongoing support and fine tuning with your audiologist that ensures it truly works for you and your day to day life.

My name is Stephen Redmond, and I work with Hidden Hearing in Wexford. What motivates me every day is meeting people, understanding the impact hearing loss has on their lives, and helping them hear the world around them again. Knowing that what I do is making a difference, regardless of how big or small, is what inspires me to come to work each day.

Having family members who distanced themselves from the things they loved because they struggled to take part in conversations helped me understand the life changing impact hearing care can have. Seeing those challenges first hand led me into the role I am in today.

Before joining Hidden Hearing, I spent over 10 years working in face to face customer and patient focused roles. The part of my role I enjoy most is seeing patients return just a few weeks after taking the next step on their hearing journey. Watching the joy and confidence that better hearing brings gives me a real sense of fulfilment and reassures me that I am making a difference.

I believe every hearing journey is unique. By taking the time to understand each person's needs, I can provide care that is tailored to them. Regular hearing checks and follow up appointments are an important part of that journey, allowing us to identify changes early and provide the highest standard of ongoing hearing care and aftercare.

My name is Enda Dooley, and I work with Hidden Hearing, supporting patients from our Ballsbridge clinic in Dublin. Hearing loss has always been personal to me, with a family history that has given me a unique understanding of the challenges it can bring. I wanted a career where I could combine that personal experience with professional expertise to help improve the quality of life for people living with hearing loss. Supporting my patients, and seeing them reconnect with the people and moments that matter most, is what motivates me every day.

I hold a Higher Education Diploma in Hearing Aid Audiology from Queen Margaret University and have spent more than a decade helping people achieve better hearing. Throughout my career, I have been honoured to receive the Audiologist of the Year award, alongside several Certificates of Commendation and the O'Sullivan Quigley Award for Outstanding Customer Service. While these achievements mean a great deal to me, the greatest reward is the trust my patients place in me and the lasting relationships we build through Hidden Hearing's lifetime aftercare.

One patient I will always remember experienced hearing loss from early childhood and had become frustrated with the quality of sound from her hearing aids. After recommending new hearing aid technology, the improvement in her hearing and confidence was remarkable. She later nominated me for Audiologist of the Year, and despite now working in Dublin, she continues to attend my clinic today. Stories like hers remind me why I chose this profession.

Alongside my work in the clinic, I am passionate about raising awareness of hearing health within the community through hearing screenings and educational initiatives. I believe that no one should wait until hearing loss begins to affect their relationships, confidence or quality of life before seeking help.

If there is one piece of advice I would give, it is not to delay having your hearing checked. Early intervention provides the best opportunity to protect your hearing and find the right solution before hearing loss progresses.
